Quick Facts
Built in 1966, Alpha is staffed by a Resident Director and Resident Advisors. Alpha is a traditional 'dorm-style' hall with community restrooms and a laundry room on each floor. There is a large main-floor lounge, a rooftop sundeck, a main kitchen and two microwave rooms. The lounges, prayer room and study room were recently renovated to create a warm, inviting community area for residents.

Floor Plan
Plan your space! This floor plan shows the dimensions of a typical room in this residence hall. (Layout and measurements may vary somewhat from room to room.) To experiment with how you and your roommate(s) can lay out your space, just print out this page, cut out the furniture, and experiment with different arrangements. Alternatively, use a program like Photoshop or Canva to copy and paste the furniture in different spots. Keep in mind that some furniture can be positioned underneath your bed in order to maximize your floor space and storage.

Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵ Alpha
Alpha was built in 1966 and proudly offers the largest rooms on campus. Alpha houses first year students and first-gen scholar students on both the east and west side. While it is a co-ed hall, the east side is reserved for male students and the west side is reserved for female students. This three story building offers a shared outdoor patio, two large lobbies, a kitchen, and 12 washers and 12 dryers.
Alpha Hall's doors are secured by an electronic access system, so only students can access the building during the day, and only residents may enter the building at night. Each individual room is key-locked for student security. Security cameras in outside and common areas are monitored 24 hours per day, and Campus Safety patrols campus regularly to ensure student security at all times.

Hi, my name is Jen! I’m so excited to be Alpha’s Resident Director! I was raised in Thousand Oaks, California, and after taking the scenic route through several different schools, I transferred to Biola in 2017. Two years later, I graduated with a bachelor's degree in Communication and a minor in Biblical Studies.
After graduation, I had the privilege of working with global students at Biola while earning my master's degree in Organizational Leadership. I then moved to Hume Lake, California, where I helped direct the Joshua Wilderness Institute, Hume Lake Christian Camp's nine-month discipleship program for young adults. Each year, I had the joy of watching students take ownership of their faith, discover what it means to love God and others, and catch a bigger vision of God's Kingdom in ways that transformed their lives.
I'm incredibly grateful to be back at Biola and to continue investing in students during such a formative season of life. I believe the Christian life is one beggar showing another where to find bread. My hope is that students would be shaped by Jesus and the truth of His Word, experience authentic and joyful community, and embrace opportunities that deepen their love for God while broadening their view of His world and His heart for it.
I can't wait to do life alongside the students in Alpha! You'll often find me doing something active—playing spikeball, dancing, playing volleyball, or hiking. I also love practicing hospitality, and I'm excited to help students find a place where they are known, loved, and belong, both at Biola and in the Alpha community. Praise God from whom all blessings flow!
