With two children of his own, Dr. Shane Enete, associate professor of finance in the Crowell School of Business, thought of a way to teach his children about money the same way he teaches them about their Christian faith — by using Bible stories. Thus was born the “” podcast, a show designed to teach children about financial wisdom and practical money use from a biblical perspective.

Hosted by Enete, who also directs Biola University’s personal financial planning program, each episode features him reading a Bible story to his daughter and son, interacting with them throughout as they learn about money with biblical characters as the focal point. The 24-episode series blends biblical storytelling, practical money lessons and Gospel-centered truth to spark deeper conversations about stewardship, generosity and purpose. Each episode features a Bible story that connects the Bible to real-world financial principles — followed by a fun, hands-on activity that teaches how money works in everyday life.

“Money is the second most talked about topic in the Bible, yet we often leave God out of the conversation when it comes to teaching kids about finances,” said Enete. “This show invites families to let Scripture — not culture — shape how their children think about money, values and their calling in Christ.”

Designed for use during family devotions, homeschool lessons or car rides, each episode of “Money Storybook Bible” is only 10-15 minutes. The podcast offers parents a fresh way to disciple their children — not just in faith, but in practical wisdom rooted in biblical truth — and children a practical way to understand money. Topics such as paying with credit (2 Kings 4), being rich but unhappy (Ecclesiastes 5), borrowing money (2 Kings 6) and saving money (Luke 2) are examples of subjects talked about in the podcast episodes.

Stories in each episode include elements of saving, spending and managing money while providing exciting and engaging visuals for children to latch onto while listening to the podcast. After the story is read, a session of interactive role-playing, writing activities or situations for allotting money to hypothetical scenarios. The podcast is different from most traditional podcasts, as Enete’s children play significant roles in making the stories and activities approachable for their peers.

Enete makes finances approachable for the whole family. He also instructs a personal financial planning course on Biola LEARN for $25, offering video lectures on financial planning and money management, meant for Christians who are interested in creating a comprehensive financial plan for their lives. Graduate students can learn directly from Enete at the Crowell School of Business's new Adaptive MBA degree, which offers a course called “Accounting and Finance for Decision Makers,” a course designed for students to engage in financial accounting, managerial accounting and financial management in consideration of international, economic and legal issues.
