As followers of Christ who live in this world, we live in the tension between the kingdom of this world—marked by division, marginalization, and dominance—and the kingdom of God, where shalom, justice and divine image-bearing flourish. Our Lord, however, modeled a countercultural way of living that embraced love, justice and the marginalized, showing us how to navigate both realms. This year’s SCORR Conference theme, “On Earth as it is in Heaven,” reflects Jesus' call that his followers reject the world’s patterns and live into God’s vision for a diverse, just and compassionate community—an earthly reflection of the heavenly kingdom.
