Jesus once told a story about two people who went to pray. One thought religion was
about rules. The other thought it was about their need of God’s mercy. Jesus invites us to consider: Whose place in the story do we occupy?

Jay Sklar
Jay Sklar, PhD, is Professor Old Testament at Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis. He’s published commentaries on Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Jonah. If you visit at home after work, you might find him and his dancing in the kitchen to Snarky Puppy or Tom Misch as they get dinner ready. He met his wife, Ski [rhymes with knee], in the library at seminary, and to this day encourages any student wanting to be married to study hard.
