“Let’s start a movement!” is what I started my class session with one day in Fall 2025. To a room full of university students, their attention was piqued.

Our physical birthdays are often celebrated with cards, festivities, greetings and gifts. And this is good. Little or no recognition, however, is given to our spiritual birthdays. Unfortunately, this is the norm. Yet, these events have present and eternal impact.

Here’s the challenge of this movement.

Put the date you accepted Christ as your Lord and Savior in your Google or Apple calendar. Schedule it to repeat yearly. If you know the date of your baptism, put that on your Google or Apple calendar, scheduling it to repeat every year, as well. If either of these dates are unknown, you may need to ask a family member or request for church baptism records be checked. If a season characterized your coming to faith, mark that season on your calendar. Consider recording BARDs of other family members or friends. On their BARDs, remind, acknowledge, call, email or text them on their special day.

Whether on your BARD or another’s, tell someone. Allow it to be a time of reminding yourself and others of the LORD’s faithfulness in the past or how you want to trust him more for the coming year. It will foster conversations grounded in God’s kindness and goodness.

BARDs also provide opportunities for others to know your story or who Jesus is and what he is like. They also remind Christians of the gift and obedience of baptism if they have not done so yet.

Join the movement! Open your Google or Apple calendar and add your own Born-Again Remembrance Day (BARD), and maybe two or three others from friends or relatives. Tell a friend. Enjoy the conversations. God certainly will (Malachi 3:16).
