Prior to the main evening event on Sunday, November 11, 2012, Metzger Lawn was the site of a dinner hosted by the Associated Students Spirit Events and Admissions. Laden with red and acting as a warm up event for fans to get into the Biola spirit, the dinner included the Biola Eagle available for photo ops and a student DJ who provided upbeat music to be heard throughout the lawn.
Later that night, nearly 3,000 current and prospective students filled Chase Gymnasium for Biola’s annual Midnight Madness pep rally beginning at 11:11 p.m. The enthusiastic crowd and sea of red witnessed the highlighting of Biola's athletic teams while enjoying outstanding performances by the Biola Cheer Squad, Biola's dance troupe XOPOC, and the singing of the National Anthem by mens vocal ensemble The King’s Men. The Men's and Women's Basketball players were introduced individually and the teams participated in teaching the crowd how to be their #1 fans. As a kick-off of Student Development's Faith & Technology Awareness Week, November 12-16, TechFail Video Competition videos were shown and winners were awarded prizes for first, second, and third place. Additionally, a handful of students represented their living communities by participating in a game of Knock Out, competing for the chance to win Lakers tickets and dorm points.
At the close of the evening, students practiced rushing the court full of Biola Athletes [a Biola tradition after basketball victories] and enjoyed one last surprise: an explosion of red and white confetti. Midnight Madness was the perfect evening to bolster school spirit for Biola’s 2012-2013 basketball season, and to give prospective students and families a window into the exciting community life at Biola.
Thousands of fans came together for Biola's annual Athletics kick-off, Midnight Madness
